Tasmanian Model Solar Car Challenge for Schools

Solar cars are powered by the sun using photovoltaic solar panels to generate electricity which is converted to motive power through an electric motor and gears.  Initiated  by the Integrated Energy Management Centre the Model Solar Car Challenge is held for primary schools, high schools and senior colleges each year on a 100 metre figure-8 track.  The models can exceed 20 km/h.
